Private Beekeeping Lessons

Private 1-on-1 Beekeeping Lesson and/or Consultation with Our Expert Beekeeper, Dan.  

This lesson is individualized and customized to exactly your needs. 
You have the option for this lesson to be at our store apiary in Boonville, IN or at your personal apiary. 

There is no set agenda, this is a very fluid experience.  For planning and equipment purposes, we ask that you consider general topic(s) that you would like to review.   

Potential topics:
● Hive stand location and setup recommendations
● Complete hive inspection(s)
● Hive equalizations
● Queen evaluation
● Re-Queening a hive
● Making splits
● Pest management recommendations; including ants, hive beetles, wax moths
● Varroa Mite Checks
● Varroa Mite treatment recommendations
● Honey super removal 
● Honey extracting instruction 
● Winter preparations & supplemental feeding

Protective gear required:  Veil at a minimum

This experience is individualized and intended to be personalized so we ask that attendees are limited to 1-2 beekeepers.

Pricing:
● $125 for 1st hour (minimum).  Includes travel up to 30 miles from our store location.
● $40 for each additional 1/2 hour (charged as actual time at end of lesson).

Mileage for private lessons at your apiary (charged at time of scheduling):

• 0-30 miles (from our store location):  FREE
• 30-60 miles (from our store location):  $2/additional mile
  • Example:  Our store to your apiary is 45 miles
    • 45 miles – 30 miles = 15 miles = $30 additional mileage charge
• >60 miles:  Call for availability

Scheduling:  We will contact for scheduling after we receive your order.  Most availability for this activity is limited to afternoons and weekends.  Feel free to call the store for more details prior to ordering.
